The Mineral and Jewelry Show is one of the main elements of the Festival. It will be divided clearly into three separated parts – The Mineral Show, The Jewelry Show and The Prospector Zone.
The need of collecting is something natural. Aren’t minerals ideal for this? Beautiful specimens are surely a product of nature, they have been created for thousands of years. Minerals remind us of the relationship with nature. They are admired because of their shapes, colors and forms. Besides, it’s not just about beauty. Many of them are rare and unique specimens, behind which fascinating stories are hidden. On Crystal Days we create space for people who are looking for such impressions. We try to provide a choice for those people which treat minerals as decoration, as well as for those who are looking for unique specimens for their collections. We would like to inspire future generations with our passion. A mineralogist expert will be available at the Mineral Show to help you identify specimens – free of charge of course.
Some visitors are interested in the processed “Earth’s treasures”, that is why very important part of our event will be Jewelry Show. We are aware that low-quality bulk products are currently dominating the market and it is difficult to find original jewelry. Hence, we invite creators who design their products by themselves and often manually make them – each of their products is unique. We try to gather exhibitors who can create original combinations, whose wares tempt with the magic of designs and colors. A gemologist expert will be available at the Jewelry Show to help you identify and price products free of charge.
The Prospector Zone is a special place where the youngest participants –uring gold panning or agates cutting – will be able to experience the thrill of hunting for minerals.
THE MINERAL SHOW
The Mineral Show this year, will be the largest event of this type in the history of Poland, in terms of the numbers of stands with “real” unique and natural specimens. All the largest prestigious companies from Poland will be present there. Exhibitors from Poland will dominate the Show, however, there will be sellers from such countries as Afghanistan, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Germany and USA.
Mineralogy expert – Eligiusz Szełęg, PhD
A mineralogy expert will be present at the Crystal Days. He will help you identify the minerals brought to the festival. We invite anyone to use the help of a professional. Eligiusz Szełęg, PhD from the Faculty of Earth Sciences of the University of Silesia is the author and co-author of many scientific works in mineralogy. He is the author of collector’s book (Atlas of Minerals and Stones), and co-discoverer of 3 new minerals from Poland (Pilawite-(Y), Bohseite and Żabińskiite). He is also a collector of minerals specializing in polish locations.
Calcite Excavation
A special Calcite Excavation will be prepared on Crystal Days, in which children will be able to try their own luck in mineral hunting free of charge. Those who are lucky will find beautiful orange calcites from Grabiszyce (not far from Lubań) or 165 million years old marine fossils – ammonites – from the vicinity of Częstochowa. Each young hunter would get to keep the found specimens.
Cutting Agates
Agates are often in the form of gray “balls/eggs”, which only after the cutting reveals their inner beauty. Each time it is a lottery – agate may contain beautiful patterns and colors, but also it may turn out that the agate is “empty”. You can also purchase agates from the polish Sudetes, which will be cut on the spot by specialists.
Gold panning
The youngest visitors will be able to try their strength and luck (free of charge) in rinsing gold by the technique which were used in the Wild West in the 19th century. Those who will be able to rinse gold particles will receive the Gold Hunter’s certificate. Enjoy the fun!
THE JEWELRY SHOW
At our event, the largest jewelry wholesalers will be adjacent to small craft workshops. For three days, exhibitors from Poland and abroad will present beautiful jewelry, precious stones, unique products, earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces, beads or semi-finished products for jewelry making. Some of the exhibitors are artists who design and make (often manually) unique small works of art. Many of them combine natural minerals with silver or gold.
A gemology expert – Jacek Ożdżeński
Jacek Ożdżeński – a certified appraiser will be present at the Jewelry Show to help you with valuation and identification of jewelry, those purchased on our event and also those from family collection. Jacek Ożdżeński is a gemological expert with 30 years of experience. He completed numerous professional courses, obtained a master’s title in precious stones grinding and opened his own gemology studio.
