During Crystal Days, lectures and workshops conducted by scientists and specialists from Poland and abroad will take place. The lectures would be understandable for amateurs and interesting for more advanced fans of earth sciences. Lectures and workshops will be held in a multimedia room under the “Cloth Hall” on the Market Square (level -1). Each of them will be carried out twice to facilitate your participation. Spaces are limited.
Geological field trips„In the traces of Lubań volcanoes”
Start from Bracka Tower, duration: about 1,5 hours, participation is free of charge.
The author of the guide “Lubański szlak wulkaniczny” (eng. Lubański volcanic trail) will lead a trip. During it, Kamienna Góra in Lubań will reveal its greatest geological attractions. It will be possible to learn about the history of Lubań’s “black gold” dating back to the Middle Ages, also admire the monumental basalt columns, visit the old quarry and come across the history of mysterious adits. All of this attractions you will observe in the shadow of old trees, charming alleys and in the face of the breathtaking panorama of the Karkonosze Mountains and Izera Mountains.
Historical trip „On the tracks of the history of Lubań”
Start from the Bracka Tower, duration 1,5 h, participation costs PLN 5/person
During the trip you will be able to discover the most interesting places of the Old Town, including the renaissance seat of the city council, the huge Bracka Tower, hiding the dark secrets Trinitarian Tower, remembering the medieval defense walls of the war. It will be also possible to “meet” the most colorful figures from before like Napoleon, Russian tsar, the Habsburg emperor, the Swedish king, the American president, as well as urban dissidents, preachers and politicians. A historical tour of Lubań is an opportunity for a journey in time.

During the workshop both theoretical knowledge and the live shooting process will be presented. There will be the possibility of individual advice, it is advisable to bring your own cameras.

Workshop: Modern methods of mineral analysis and workshops using XRF
WARNING! During the workshop, a modern portable XRF device (X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy) will be used so that it would be possible to test the chemical composition of minerals. Participants are asked to bring their own samples, which they will be examined and identified with the help of the teacher. This will be the first workshop of this type in Poland.
